Been 10 days, here's what's been happenin'

Hey you lovely people!

I have been away I know but don't hate me too much!

Last week I had been basically running around like a chicken with it's head cut off and uber stressed at work last week with all the new changes we are making but the outcome is fabulous! (keep reading to find out)

I had a full weekend off and got to relax, play with babies that are on my man's side of the family and see a lot of my man's family too.  Which I love!

The only real "news" that I have is that I got a mini promotion with in my company! Woohoo!!  Aside from leasing I also now am event coordinator for my site and all the properties we have in Minnesota!  As if you had read my first blog, I am an event and wedding planner too, so this is lovely to hear!

Tonight, I made fried rice with shrimp!

Here's the recipe:

Fried Rice:

  • 2 cups of cooked rice- it makes enough for around 6 people or 4 that like bigger portions
  • frozen mixed veggies in pan
  • scramble (but only use a little milk) 4-6 eggs
  •  add cooked chicken or whatever meat or shellfish you'd like
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil (do NOT use EVOO- extra virgin olive oil, learned that after my first time making it)

** you can do it all in one pan, if you have big enough- after the rice is made

Yum-Yum Sauce (you can usually get at Hibachi restaurants)

  • 2 Cup mayo (not miracle whip)
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground sea salt
  • 1tbsp ground garlic
  • 5 tsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp franks hot sauce or Tabasco
  • 1 tsp paprika

whisk together and chill  for at LEAST 4 hours, but over night is soooo much better! (that way they all homogenize together!)

Our lovely creation! you're going to make it and "wam bam, thank you ma'm" me!

This pretty much sums up how excited and happy the man and I get when we master making it and our love for hibachi!

Until next time loves!

It's Sunday... and I'm not at work?

This is weird... I generally offer to work weekends (you get double the pay) and work 30/hrs Monday-Friday but lately since we are looking for a new manager to run my property it's been nothing short but major chaos.

Valentine's Day with the man was lovely, but holy migraine and shark week is a comin' as of this morning.  Sleeping in (until 8ish until my legs started to spasm and jerk me awake) and doing a whole lotta nothing is amazing!

I love making the man food as I have said many, many times... but for real, groceries are not what they used to be, damn! spending $100 when I was growing up meant ya got to eat for a whole 3 and a half weeks- sometimes a month, including dessert AND snacks for after school as well as in school every single day!  Now, $100 gets ya enough for  getting by the next few weeks.

Now don't get me wrong.  Living in Minnesota we have Mall of America and it's awesome and I love to shop, but I don't buy anything fully price unless it's really fucking cute or certain jewelry items... back to my point, Costco/Sam's Club are my new Mall of America.  You have no idea how excited this girl gets when she can have Brie or Bellavitano (cheese) or most cheese for that matter but those especially.

I'm a thrift/consignment shopper, and I am NOT ashamed of it.  I have saved (no joke) since one of the places I shop at tells you how much you save each time you buy... *drum roll* over $3000!  I feel like a bad ass.  Although I do clean the stuff with my own laundry detergent before I wear it myself.

If you're like me and pinching pennies and doing what you can to make ends meet and wanna look FABULOUS  check out Plato's Closet, Clothes Mentor... I have a few online ones too but if ya want them, you gotta ask me personally only because then we BOTH benefit

That's all for now really... hope ya'll are having/had an amazing Sunday-Funday!

PS: recipe to come with next post!  With pictures- saaay whaaaat?!

Valentine's Week

This morning we got freezing rain and then lots upon lots of snow... the hell?  I am over it, if it were December I'd be excited but now, no.

Nooow back to the main topic.  Valentine's Day

Love is love, no matter who with.  Whether it's family, friends, significant other or animals.  I have said it before and I will say it again and again, I support LGBT.

Never miss out on a chance to say " I love you " to someone.  Those are the most powerful little words when put together.  Some say you can over use it,  I think they are wrong.  Love is different to everyone.  I love the man and i also love peanut butter, bacon and Stouffers macaroni and cheese but it's all different variances of love.
Valentine's Day last year was rough, the man and i wanted to go home for a funeral we should have gone to, but weather conditions could have put our lives in jeopardy.  We stayed safe and stayed within 5 miles of where we were living.  Here is where it gets REAL.  It's blunt...
It's weird that a year has passed by and I still think of one of the few people, who in this world, helped talk me off the ledge- so, SO many times.  I'll admit it was because I was scared of what is to come and didn't want to go it alone.  In the blink of an eye, gone.  Every now and then, even when me and his "release" song (where we would dance on my mama's deck like crazy teenagers/lay back and look at the stars on the trampoline, or just sit and talk at night until the sun came up since he was working night shifts to put himself throughout med-school)... or just seeing a damn white mustang like his.

It's been 1 year since one of the bravest men who was in my life, took his own life.  He may not have been my best friend, but he sure as hell was a damn good one.  He was the kid that would ask if everything was alright and if you said yes with just the right (but actually wrong) inflection would be over in a hot minute.  The one that will take you on a "date" to see a movie you have been waiting to for over a year to see, and is there to comfort you when you break down in the theatre and simply whisper "he should have been the one to take me, he promised". Telling myself "he no longer in pain" is what got me through it, which was hard admitting but is 100% true.
I've lost a lot more than a handful of people to suicide, some you will see me write about, some I won't because they weren't as big in my life as some of the others.  I've had my struggles too(which I am sure someday I'll get into), and it royally sucks.  Feeling alone in a world with billions of people.
Know this, if you need/want whatever... to talk- I'll listen and be an eye to see (not hear unless you were to call me) and respond with the best help I can.

This Valentine's Day... say I love you to someone- even if you don't know them.  You never know who you will talk off a ledge without knowing.

I said BURR! It's cold in here!

As Kirsten Dunst said in Bring It On (weird that it was 15 years ago and I was just about to start the 4th grade...yeah I'm a "youngin' " or as my co-workers call me "lil pup everyone wants to see"... Annnnnywaaaayss!

It's cold.  No, not cold as hell, because well, hell is supposed to be hot and not cold as balls unless there is something I don't know (if you took that sexually HA!)  if not wellllll... than you were thinking like basketballs/footballs that sorta thing? If so basketballs can get hot when left in the summer sun.  Here in don'tchya-know land of Minnesnowta or as my man's mom has called it Minne-colda it's still winter and still snowing.  Temperatures at about -10 degree's (today) which is warm compared to what December/January was like more often than not but still quite ridiculous.

My man loves summer mostly as he puts it "you wear more summer dresses and all your bright fun colors in summer... and you look good in a bikini, bonfires, longer nights sitting on our balcony enjoying wine or beer" that and we go camping every chance we can!

I am more partial to Autumn (no that does not make me a "basic bitch") although I do love making my famous pumpkin bars with maple cream cheese frosting,[recipe will come this year, I PROMISE] I do NOT and will not wear Uggs- waste of money for me to spend when I have over $1000/bills a month{YAY for being a grown-up/adult, am I right?! NOT}, and when I have a BOGO for Caribou Coffee I go get Pumpkin Hot Chocolate- I can't have coffee, long story- for another time.

I really do want spring and summer though.  I have SO much clothes for those months (I love color) to wear... another reason this woman needs a walk in closet.

Back in December I went to visit one of my best friends in the universe (in Indiana) and I had forgotten how nice it is in December.  Now to me it's nice out when it's 35-45 degrees out and  I can wear one of my really thick hoodies and call it good with Jeans a t-shirt and boots.   Granted I was there a hell of a lot in 2010- earlyish 2011- again another story, another time.

In my man and I's old place we never turned the heat on once (we had lived on second floor and had it coming from below and above us) and now if the window is open just a crack it's perfect, other place sometimes was the WHOLE way opened.  Trying to be classy/professional in skirts is getting annoying when it's this cold.

This week on Monday the man and I's first official dindin (dinner/supper) was amaze balls!  He had crab legs, I had maple salmon made garlic biscuits and mashed taters... We definitely om-nom-nom'd that.  Made me feel special to do that for him (d'aaaw) - cooking for him is a way I show my love and NO he does not think a woman;s place is the kitchen

Tuesday- Pizza Casserole (recipe some other time, you will get it not to worry)

Wednesday- cold winter night classic = soup and grilled cheese

Tonight(Thursday)- Buffalo Chicken Wraps and apple slices:

Here's the Recipe for that(you'll learn I take after my grandma and make many, many portions):

Filling:
  • 6-8 chicken tenderloins/2-4 chicken breasts: ready to be cooked, cook 'em bad boys up or you can do the ready n' serve (I won't judge)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (Hidden Valley Homestyle makes it really creamy and delicious)
  • 1.5 cup of your favorite buffalo sauce
  • mix the sauces (if you can have them marinade over night EVEN BETTER)
  • mix slather your chicken in the sauce mix and heat in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, take out of oven
...add cheese- sharp cheddar or mozzarella go rreeaaalllly well with this, lettuce, tomato (we would have added tomato if we had it), any extra ranch or buffalo sauce

Flour Tortillas to put it in, and BAM! you made buffalo chicken wraps.  Pretty damn easy for those who like easy meals (which I make a lot of since I work 50/hours a week)

As far as apple slices go... get an apple you like and cut it up for you and your loved ones.

Hey you, with the face!

Mmmmmkay... So this is the very first blog post. Here's the deal: This post has NOTHING you want to read but will anyways because it's amazing, it's simply the first post of randomness and who we are.

I(the female in the relationship) will be writing way more than "the man". Now when I say "the man" I am referring to my man. My hunk of love, grizzly bearded, eats anything I make him, sexy like if you do the goofy and silly-ness of Jim Carey, (the man's reason behind why he likes being goofy- aside from his mom) coming up with weird songs and just odd like Weird Al Yankovic, Ryan Goslings facial structure, Lance Bass's green eyes, Ryan Reynolds upper body... and they all had a baby = the love of my life. :]

Well... we got our own little place- just us, no roommates anymore!!! We have a few things here and there still to get from our old place but otherwise we did it! -WOAH! We have been together as a couple (*insert mushy gooshy crap*) since halfway through 2012. We met at the end of 2008, became best of friends in the last few months in 2009.
We moved in together after we had been together for 1 year and aaalllmost 3.5 months. Which some may say is crazy, the way we see it, meant to be. It still to this day, is like a sleep over with him. I get giggly when it's time for bed(98.999% of the time, unless I am wicked tired and just want to sleep) and get to snuggle up next to him (he's a radiator and i'm a freeze baby) and if one of us falls asleep before we say our good nights (as I realized last night) the other will wake your ass up because "you forgot my goodnight kiss" which I love!

We hail from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, don't cha know? Noooo, ohhh yeaaahh you betchya, ya do now! We also have Canadian, Irish, Scottish, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Ukrainian in our blood streams.

Here are some quick things to know about us:

1. I LOVE to cook/bake... he will eat it (as I stated above)
2. camping is one of our favorite things to do, together
3. We already have talked about the BIGGER PICTURE
4. Football, Hockey, Baseball and Lacrosse(MN team)... yeah we rep our home turf
5. we're nerds. Not as hardcore as some, but we are hardcore in our own little ways.
6. we love movies. Going to movies, getting movies and raiding the $5 movie bin -like we are going through a worm hole
7. He is a grease monkey when it comes to cars (which to me is pretty damn shmexcy)
8. I'm an event and wedding planner and also work in residential real-estate
9. The man works in his career field of Promotional Marketing
10. we swear, like sailors and aren't ashamed of it- and this blog will have strong language from time to time
11. staying in shape is big for us (not like body builder way but healthy way)
12. It's pretty safe to say we love cheese. Both don't like blue cheese, and I don't really like American unless it's my only option...
13. I am a kid at heart, and also kind of a hippy
14. He is definitely a kid at heart (majority of the time)
15. We love to laugh, and live to love
16. I am a smart shopper, end of story. someday I WILL have a walk in closet && pantry.
17. We both support LGBT, if you have a problem with that, you can fuck off and I won't give a damn
18. We are dog people, mostly because we are allergic to cats
19. We're weird, if you saw the stuff that we do when it's just us you would want to lock us up in a padded room (no I am NOT refferring to sex)
20. We are the two you'll see in pictures making weird faces

...So yeah, that's about it for the first post.  I will defintely be posting once a week sometimes more than that depending on what is going on.  You can love or hate it but if you're going to hate, go away!

Super Bowl Sunday = the day my diet goes to die
